Yashira M. Morales, MHA, is a Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program Administrator supporting the Orlando VA Psychiatry Residency Program, where she focuses on strengthening residency operations, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and creating a supportive environment for residents and faculty. With extensive experience in healthcare administration and academic environments, she manages complex program processes, coordinates educational activities, supports institutional partnerships, and helps guide residents through important professional milestones. Her work reflects a commitment to organization, accountability, and advancing healthcare education.
Yashira’s career journey has been shaped by perseverance, continuous learning, and a dedication to personal growth. She began her professional path at New York University, where she progressed through various healthcare administration roles, including Patient Service Representative, Lead Patient Service Representative, Financial Manager, and Academic Administrator. After becoming a mother at a young age, she returned to her educational goals, earning an associate degree, completing her bachelor’s degree at Nyack College, and later achieving her Master of Healthcare Administration from New York University. She continues to pursue growth by beginning a doctoral program in Education and Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University, demonstrating her commitment to lifelong learning and leading by example.
Throughout her career, Yashira has embraced leadership as a responsibility centered on service, integrity, and supporting others. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence and resilience. I learned from every setback, sought feedback after missed opportunities, and continued improving myself. That determination helped me grow.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to always be willing to learn and never be afraid to step into new responsibilities. Growth comes from embracing challenges, asking questions, and continuously improving rather than waiting until you feel completely ready.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to not wait until they feel completely ready. Keep learning, ask questions, build meaningful relationships, and trust the value of your own experiences. Kindness and compassion are essential, especially when supporting people during challenging and stressful situations.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field have included navigating uncertainty, organizational changes, leadership transitions, and balancing demanding responsibilities with continued learning. These experiences have taught me that effective leadership is about staying calm, remaining professional, and moving forward with resilience, empathy, confidence, and compassion.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are honesty, kindness, and service to others. I believe leadership means serving those you work with, listening before speaking, making difficult decisions with integrity, and creating an environment where people feel respected, valued, and supported.
