About Yasmin

I've been playing soccer for most of my life, and after college I was recruited to play in Spain, which was an opportunity I would never think in a million years I would have. While I was there, I also got my master's in international coaching and management - it was two separate things, not like I went to Spain to go to school, it was just kind of an opportunity that arose. When I moved back to Florida, I started at Montfort Academy with soccer in Fall 2021. Now I work in two roles - I'm a head coach for certain teams and assistant coach for most teams, and I also do a lot of college counseling. My typical day starts at 7:30am and I get out at 4pm, then go straight to soccer until 6pm. In college counseling, I schedule a lot of college visits, work closely with each college counselor, send out transcripts, handle scholarship money - right now I'm working on Florida's Bright Futures scholarship. For soccer, I do a lot of social media, make college profiles for soccer players who are committing to college as seniors, and I'm an assistant coach for our club team, being a helping hand to the head coach and being there for the girls. I have a lot of hats, I would say. I'm also working toward soccer licensing - I recently got a grassroots 11v11 coaching license. I'm excited about some new things I'm starting, like wellness events that are community-based, trying to get people together with fitness involved but also networking.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't be afraid to fail. And it's not about proving, it's about improving. So as long as you can improve in what you're doing, it's better than just trying to prove to everybody, like, oh, I can do this, and then it not working out. As long as I improve, I feel like, you know, take some risk and have fun with it. Doesn't always have to be so serious.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I do really think that it's important that women, you know, just go and do it, no matter what field you're in, especially like mine is all male dominant with soccer. We need more women coaches, especially when I was in Spain, it was all - my class was all guys, and I was the only girl in a coaching course, you know? But I just feel like, even if it doesn't seem like you can do it, or it doesn't seem realistic, why not just try it?
