Her Story
About Yasmine
I am the Customer Experience Manager at Jiffy Lube, where I've worked for two and a half years. I'm ASC certified and work on cars while also consulting with customers and recommending services. My journey into automotive wasn't traditional - I came into this field with no experience after facing personal challenges, but my mentor Sydney Neville gave me an opportunity when others wouldn't. She was the most genuine, kind, patient person, and I truly appreciated her belief in me. Since then, I've been promoted and reached levels I never knew I could achieve. What drives me most is bringing integrity and honesty to an industry where people, especially women, often get taken advantage of. I love being able to educate women about their vehicles, helping them understand what they truly need versus what's just an upsell, so they can make informed decisions in the future. I'm currently pursuing my paralegal degree, which I'll complete in June 2026, as my true passion lies in advocacy - being the voice for others who feel they're overlooked or don't matter as much. My goal is to land a position as a paralegal in a law firm that shares my passion for helping undervalued people.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Yasmine
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to bringing integrity and honesty to the automotive industry. One of the things I've noticed is that people, myself included, get taken advantage of by the automotive industry where they're telling you that you need this, you need that, and you don't. My biggest thing is I love to be honest with mainly women, because I've come to find that a lot of women don't have a lot of knowledge about their vehicles. So just bringing that integrity and honesty, and letting them know, hey, don't be taken advantage of, this is what this means, and being able to share my knowledge with them so that in the future they can know the difference between somebody just trying to upsell or somebody actually telling them the things they need. Helping people in that way is what makes me successful.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've received is to love what you do, not just for the money, but because you feel it has a purpose. This advice has really stuck with me and guides how I approach my work.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say there's a lot of bias, I guess, being a woman going into an automotive field. It's always seen that we can't do as fluent of a job, but I've definitely been promoted and reached a level that I never knew I could. So I would say just stick it out, learn as much as you can, and don't ever let anyone tell you that you're incapable of doing something that anyone else is doing. It's one of the hardest things I've dealt with, but rising above and staying professional got me through it.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I think is being treated unfairly in the workplace. But just rising above and staying professional got me through it, as well as understanding. I know people go through things, and sometimes the way they act doesn't really reflect who they truly are. So I understood that about somebody that was previously a manager of mine, and we actually came to good terms in that. That was one of the hardest things I've had to do, is put my pride and feelings aside and understand another person, even if their views are different than mine.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that mean the most to me are mainly equality and integrity. These values guide everything I do in my work and personal life.
