Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the mentorship and support I’ve received throughout my journey, as well as the discipline and perseverance I’ve developed over time. I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible individuals, including my research mentor Jessica Mena Flores, professors like Gregory Choi, our board president Rodney, and Brenda Valadez through Students Rising Above. Their guidance, combined with my experience balancing multiple roles while completing my undergraduate studies, helped me build the work ethic, resilience, and capacity needed to grow into leadership.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to believe in their own strength and capability, even when the path feels uncertain. Discipline and perseverance are key—success doesn’t happen overnight, but through small, consistent steps. Stay focused, keep showing up, and trust that your efforts will build into something meaningful over time.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the nonprofit sector is navigating limited funding and ongoing governmental budget cuts, especially while managing time and resources in smaller organizations. Building strong partnerships and leading teams across different generations can also be complex. At the same time, there are significant opportunities to expand outreach and marketing efforts, strengthen community relationships, and develop partnerships that lead to sustainable philanthropic support and contracts.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most are service to my community, discipline, perseverance, and confidence. I also believe in the importance of patience and prioritizing mental wellness, both personally and professionally. Staying grounded in these values helps me lead with purpose and remain committed to making a meaningful impact.
