About Yesenia
Yesenia Banks is a healthcare reimbursement and policy leader with over 25 years of experience spanning provider settings, medical devices, and healthcare consulting. She currently serves as Senior Manager of US Reimbursement and Healthcare Policy at Solventum, where she supports the wound care and med-surg divisions by analyzing Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies and translating regulatory updates into actionable guidance for internal teams and external stakeholders. She is also a Certified Professional Coder and has built deep expertise in healthcare reimbursement strategy, coding compliance, and payer relations across multiple organizations in the healthcare industry.
Her career began in high school working in a physician’s office, where she gained early exposure to both front-office and clinical operations. She later progressed into claims and reimbursement roles within medical groups and healthcare organizations, steadily advancing her expertise while earning her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2002. Over the years, she held key reimbursement management positions at organizations including KCI USA, Spiracur Inc., and Experian Healthcare, building a strong foundation in managed care, Medicare policy, and healthcare business analysis.
In addition to her corporate leadership role, Yesenia is an entrepreneur and founder of her own billing and legal consulting practice, which she launched after earning her coding certification during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is passionate about mentoring others and giving back, serving as a mentor and donor for programs supporting young mothers, while also engaging in animal welfare work as a kitten foster. Balancing executive leadership with business ownership and community involvement, she is focused on continuous professional growth, including advanced coding certifications, while building her long-term vision for healthcare consulting and retirement entrepreneurship.

Ten minutes with Yesenia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, focus, and a strong commitment to setting an example for my children. I have always believed in showing them that dedication and perseverance make it possible to achieve your goals, even when life is demanding and responsibilities are heavy. Balancing my career and family taught me discipline and consistency, and my children often joke that they could recite my conference calls by heart, which reflects the effort it has taken to build a meaningful career. As a young mother at 16, I was determined not to become a statistic and instead to create a different path for myself and my son. Earning my bachelor’s degree is one of my proudest accomplishments because it represents resilience, growth, and the commitment to proving that success is possible through determination and perseverance.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to build a strong network of supporters and mentors who can provide both professional guidance and emotional encouragement. It is important to surround yourself with people you can lean on, because navigating this path can be challenging and is not something you should do alone. Equally important is to stay connected to your purpose—regularly remind yourself of your “why,” as it will keep you grounded, motivated, and focused when things become difficult.
