Her Story
About Yesenia
Yesenia Larios brings over two decades of expertise to the large commercial insurance sector, with a focus on middle market and large accounts. She works at NFP, where she has been promoted three times within the last six years. Larios began her career after an insurance agency owner spotted her potential while she worked as a cashier at Home Depot, leading her to obtain her license on the first try and build her path in the industry. With only two years of college and no full degree, she credits mentors and hands-on experience for shaping her journey more than formal education. She attributes her drive to a remark from her mother that she would only become a cleaning lady because her parents could not afford college, which motivated her to prove she could succeed as a professional. Her daughter remains her biggest inspiration. Larios lives by the values of honesty, loyalty, determination, and consistency, and she gives back by supporting an orphanage of about 2,000 children in El Salvador along with feeding stray dogs there.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Yesenia
01What do you attribute your success to?
Someone once told me that I was just gonna be a cleaning lady because my parents aren't rich. That really made me want to do better and prove myself that I can be a professional without a college degree. My daughter has been my huge and biggest inspiration in life.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Not every road is meant to be followed on a straight path. You're gonna have some curveballs that is gonna wanna discourage you from your final end goal, but you need to have that determination and say this is what I want to do in life and this is what I'll do. You need to be resilient and know that not everything is gonna look perfect all the time but it's how you make it perfect for your own self.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Finding good quality help to get to the next level can be challenging especially with the new generation not wanting to really learn the way back in the day. At NFP they have all the tools needed and see my potential so no huge hurdles.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The foundation of everything is honesty. You need to be honest within yourself and with your clients. Loyalty to yourself and to others. Determination and consistency with everything that you do in life. Those are 4 things that I live by every day: consistency, loyalty, honesty, determination.
