Her Interview
Ten minutes with Yolanda
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success first to my faith in God. When I'm feeling challenged, my faith always rises. I have a family, I'm a mother and grandmother, so that support keeps me young. My experience bringing all of that together has set me up for my gift. Every single thing that has occurred has made me a better person and helped me evolve. Constantly evolving to learn new things, learning to pivot when you need to pivot, and resilience have contributed to my success. Just recently I'm now an AI-certified consultant.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Confidence is knowing that you have the resources. Now when I step into a room even if I don't have all the knowledge I think I should have, I still can step in there confident because I know I have the ability to find the resources for anything. My biggest resource is God. That shaped me and changed me. Knowing that confidence is knowing that you have the ability to find the resources that you need makes you unstoppable.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep evolving. Be resilient. Every time they pull on you, you are learning something new. Take that as the opportunity to learn something new. Don't get stuck. Use that energy and keep evolving. Take any opportunity to learn, take it in. Learn it and take it with you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my line of work is wanting to expand and maybe not having the capital to do so. The opportunities are there but you need to be able to secure salaries. I might have to scale back because I don't have that cushion. But I work around it by hiring people as another consultant on 1099 basis and doing it based on projects.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My integrity of work. I take pride in what I do. I don't do anything that is going to jeopardize my name or my business name. Integrity is the key value. I always tell myself I'm a virtuous woman. My respect for my clients. I respect everyone. My faith, service, and accountability. I hold myself and my clients accountable.
