Her Story
About Yolanda
I've been in my field for over 3 years. I was inspired and influenced by my mother, who wanted to do that type of field but because of life and situation she didn't get the opportunity, so I honor her by being able to be in the field that she originally wanted to pursue in her life. A typical day for me depends on events - some days a photo shoot, other days a modeling show or hosting a show. My days are always different, never the same, and that's what I love about my industry - always fun with lots of energy and amazing people.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Definitely staying true to yourself. In the industry they're going to try to make you do things that may be against your value or how you feel, so stay true to yourself. If you don't feel like doing that, don't do it. Have a voice for yourself and be an advocate for yourself because you know yourself best and better than anybody else.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Definitely go ahead and pursue it. And always make sure that you are wanting to do something for yourself, and not being influenced by people to do something that you may not want to do.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some of the biggest challenges in my industry is just connecting with the right audience, because not everyone's going to be for you, so you have to understand that everyone is not going to be the right audience or everyone is not going to want to work alongside you, and you have to learn how to take your positive with your negative and just move forward from there.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My values would be definitely my integrity, and just keeping making sure I always stay true to myself. If I feel I want to do something, then I'm going to do it. I am not going to be influenced by others or feel pressure into doing something that I don't want to do. Especially in my industry, they try to make you mold you into something that you're not, and you have to be very vocal and stand up for yourself in regards to your values and what you want to pursue in the industry.
