Her Interview

Ten minutes with Yoo

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would credit my success to professors who really shaped my career path and gave great advice, my family who supported me throughout, close friend groups who empower me, and mentors.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always be flexible, always be open to new technology and new pathways. Never limit yourself to one career path because industries and technology always change, so you have to be flexible and adaptable. Try out different things and see what you gravitate towards.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is coming in with new features every month, so as a UX designer I have to adapt to new skills. A challenge is losing human interaction and empathy as AI makes decisions based on data; human empathy process is lacking and cannot be replaced by AI.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In professional work, cross-collaboration is key along with communication skills and teamwork. Personally, always have a mentor in every area of life, such as career path mentors who have walked the path long enough to give advice.
