Her Interview

Ten minutes with Yvonne

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God giving me a sense of adventure and the opportunities that come my way. Opportunities produce self-awareness that produces mastery and create that cycle. I love to have mastery and discover new areas that interest me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Take the opportunities as they come to you. You may not know if this is what you want to do, but take the opportunity and explore. If it's not, then you can always say it wasn't for me. Sometimes your path is hidden in those undefined opportunities.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is the abundance of opportunities for students and the absence of either excitement or awareness about these opportunities. Students seem not to be aware of or know the value of the opportunities that they have and lose time-sensitive opportunities.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I want God first. I want to have excellence. I want to have beauty. If you do excellent work, there's beauty in it. I want to operate with honor at all times. Put God first, operate with honor, bring excellence, and enjoy beauty or bring beauty, then I'm balanced.
