Her Story
About Yvonne
Yvonne Laramie brings more than 30 years of experience to her role recruiting therapists for long-term care facilities. She has spent the past year at HealthPro Heritage, where she focuses on identifying candidates who truly enjoy working with the geriatric population rather than simply filling positions. Laramie pursued night school for many years but did not complete her bachelor's degree and instead credits the School of Hard Knocks along with extensive on-the-job learning for shaping her expertise. She attributes her success to her faith and to mentors including Liz Grima at Aegis and Anitra at HealthPro Heritage who guided her growth. Relationship building and creativity are among her strengths, and she emphasizes surrounding herself with honest people who have genuine intentions. Laramie lives by values of honesty, integrity, and morals, believing that God plays a role in both her work and personal life. She advises young women entering the industry to work hard, follow up, communicate, and be diligent while also believing in their own abilities and creativity.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Yvonne
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God and to the managers who have mentored me like Liz Grima at Aegis and Anitra here at HealthPro Heritage. They took me under their wings and helped me grow. I also believe in surrounding yourself with honest people who have your true intentions in their heart. Team members and friendships built over the years have been important too.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is to believe in yourself and your abilities and creativity. People keep telling me about work-life balance but I don't do that. One of my strong suits is relationship building and being very creative.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Work hard. Follow up. Communicate and be diligent.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is finding therapists who enjoy working with the geriatric population. The opportunity is helping the facilities fill those positions to care for our gentle, delicate population.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and integrity are number one. I live my life and my work life with integrity and honesty. Morals too. I believe God has a hand in both work and home.
