Her Interview
Ten minutes with Zenobia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being grounded, having the support of my parents which was instrumental, my spiritual foundation which continues to be instrumental, and having a support group including my husband, children, friends, and family. Being surrounded by the right people who celebrate you rather than tolerate you.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to have courage. My mother taught me that whenever you decide to take on a challenge, be prepared to take it on by yourself, and if others join you great, but take a stand because you want to, even if by yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My best advice is to follow your heart, and wherever your heart takes you, earn the certification or degree if needed, but don't dismiss where your heart is leading you. Follow your intuition or gut. Start where you are, use what you have. Stay the course because life is going to happen, but stay focused.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is that people are looking for a quick fix rather than establishing habits and good patterns, which takes time. The opportunities are to encourage people, not criticize them, show kindness, be calm, and be kind, as these free actions bring great value and help people feel seen.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My values are the same in work and personal life: God first, family first, and peace of mind. Peace of mind is key because if it is disturbed, it affects everything else.
