Her Interview

Ten minutes with Zeola

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to three main things: mentorship, perseverance, and continuous learning. Mentorship has been invaluable having mentors who guided me and shared their knowledge played a huge role in my journey. I believe in passing that forward by empowering others and sharing what I’ve learned.

Perseverance is another key. I see challenges as opportunities for growth, and I embrace them wholeheartedly. That determination keeps me moving forward, always learning, always growing.

I often compare my approach to when I used to run track: I stay focused on the finish line, keep my momentum, and encourage my team to adopt that same mindset.

Finally, continuous learning is crucial. The more we learn, the more we can contribute to our teams and communities. It’s all about supporting each other and inspiring one another to run the best race possible. That’s what I attribute my success to.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Find your passion and your purpose. Look for opportunities that excite you, challenge you, and align with your values. When you pursue work that is meaningful to you, it not only brings personal fulfillment but also creates the opportunity to make a lasting impact on your career, your community, and the lives of others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the banking and finance industry is simple: just do it. Take the opportunity, step forward with confidence, and pursue your goals. Stay authentic. Be true to yourself and never be afraid to let your unique qualities shine. Authenticity builds trust, strengthens relationships, and earns respect. It creates a strong foundation for long-lasting connections in both your personal and professional life. People connect with what's real, and your authenticity is one of your greatest strengths.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in banking is helping people navigate a complex financial world while still delivering personal, trusted service. Technology is advancing fast, but relationships still matter.

We also have a big opportunity in developing future leaders who can innovate and adapt. At the same time, balancing digital convenience with human connection is a challenge, along with staying ahead of fraud and cybersecurity risks.

I’m excited about blending innovation, learning, and strong relationships to serve customers and build communities. That’s where the real growth lies.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my personal life, family is my top priority. I cherish every moment spent with my loved ones and work hard to maintain a healthy balance between my career and home life. I am passionate about growth, not only my own, but also the growth of my family. I strive to nurture curiosity, resilience, and strong values in my children because they are the future.

Whether I'm navigating challenges in the banking industry or spending quality time with my family, I am guided by the belief that every interaction has the potential to make a positive difference. I am proud to serve my community and am committed to building strong relationships, encouraging growth, and creating positive change both at work and at home.

Most importantly, I strive to keep Christ first in everything I do. Matthew 5:16 reminds us, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." This verse serves as a daily reminder to live authentically, lead with purpose, and positively influence those around me through my actions.

As a wife, mother, and leader, I have a unique opportunity to let my light shine in both my personal and professional life. By living out values such as integrity, empathy, servant leadership, and community involvement, I hope to uplift my family, support my team, and inspire others to do the same. My goal is to leave every person, relationship, and community better than I found it.

I believe that true success is not measured solely by professional accomplishments, but by the impact we have on others. Whether at home, in the workplace, or in the community, I strive to be a source of encouragement, hope, and support. By leading with faith, compassion, and authenticity, I hope to create a legacy of service that inspires others to grow, achieve their goals, and make a positive difference in the lives of those around them.
