Zinab Zriek-Hammoud is a dedicated educator and human rights advocate with over 18 years of experience in the education management field. She currently serves as a Teacher and Advisor at the Dearborn Public Schools–Adult Education Department, where she has played a pivotal role in supporting adult learners and fostering community engagement. Throughout her career, Zinab has demonstrated expertise in K-12 education, literacy, classroom management, lesson planning, and educational technology, consistently empowering her students to achieve academic and personal growth. Zinab is also deeply committed to student leadership and community service. As Key Club Advisor at Fordson High School for 14 years, she guided over 170 students per year in volunteer initiatives that support shelters, nursing homes, food banks, and local fundraising events. Her leadership has earned her notable recognition, including the David Steger Advisor of the Year Award in 2012 and the first-ever Greg Smith Advisor of the Year Award in 2015, making her the first Arab American to receive both honors. Her mentorship continues to inspire students to become active, compassionate members of their communities. A strong advocate for education and media, Zinab holds a Broadcasting degree in Radio and Television from the American Broadcasting School in Oklahoma City and a Master’s in Bilingual Education from Wayne State University. Beyond her professional achievements, she is passionate about promoting human rights, literacy, and lifelong learning. With a career built on dedication, intentional care, and leadership, Zinab continues to make a meaningful impact on both her students and the broader educational community.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith and family, which have shaped my upbringing and guided my values. Their influence instilled in me the importance of intentional care, dedication, and integrity in everything I do, both personally and professionally.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering this industry to prioritize balance and self-care. Taking time for activities like walking, reading, cooking, and enjoying moments with family can help maintain both personal well-being and professional effectiveness. Nurturing yourself allows you to show up fully and thrive in your career.
