About Zoe

Zoe Gordon is a Senior Department Associate at Fordham University in New York, NY. She has been in this role for two years, having started at the university in 2022 after accumulating four years of experience in higher education. Her career path includes prior positions in New York City government as a customer service representative for the 311 information line, followed by three years in New York State government serving as a community liaison and legislative assistant, as well as a campaign assistant for a running senator. She then worked for one and a half years as a life coach at a foster care agency before transitioning to higher education. In her current position, Zoe manages incoming and outgoing correspondence with students, parents, teachers, and faculty, organizes teaching schedules for the summer session, handles payroll, and leads weekly team meetings to track progress on goals. She is pursuing a master's degree and recently contributed to a research project in the Philippines that supported cacao production initiatives with grant funding. Zoe is a member of the Black Care Professional Council and has participated in mission projects, including malaria prevention efforts in Uganda and serving as a counselor at an all-girls orphanage in Haiti, where she assisted with inventory at the clinic and orphanage. She values giving back to her community and draws from personal experiences to encourage others.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To not doubt yourself, because you have the vision, and you have the goal, that means you have what it takes to see it through. And you have everything that you need here equipped. Everything that you need to fulfill the vision, because it was given to you. So, to be confident, and outgoing. And do what it takes to make sure.
