Zoe Huppman is a Human Resource Business Partner based in Westminster, Maryland, currently working with a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals who face barriers to traditional workplaces. With a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus and ongoing studies toward an MBA, Zoe combines her academic foundation with hands-on experience to create accessible, effective workplace systems that support both employees and organizational goals.

Zoe began her career in the clinical field, working directly with children on the autism spectrum as a behavior technician. She quickly advanced to a lead role, training staff and developing specialized supports for clients, including visual aids and structured task systems. While working in clinical settings, she pursued her interest in human resources, managing billing, credentialing, and employee relations. This unique blend of clinical and HR expertise enables her to implement creative solutions, adapt communication tools for neurodiverse employees, and navigate complex operational challenges with empathy and precision.

In her current HR role, Zoe oversees multiple government and nonprofit contracts, conducts investigations, coaches managers, develops training programs, and implements workplace accommodations for employees with disabilities. She is recognized for her problem-solving skills, advocacy, and commitment to professional growth, having notably recovered over a million dollars in previously denied Medicaid claims at a prior employer. Passionate about lifelong learning and making a meaningful impact, Zoe’s career reflects a dedication to creating inclusive, sustainable workplaces where employees of all abilities can thrive.

Continuously pushing myself to take on more responsibility and solve complex problems has been key to my professional growth.

Q

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you can build a career you love, continue learning throughout your life, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others—all while achieving success in your field.

My advice to young women entering this industry is to embrace lifelong learning and strive to exceed expectations. By continuously developing your skills and going above and beyond, you can accelerate your growth and achieve promotions more quickly.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced recently is balancing full-time work while completing my master’s degree. At the same time, I’m embracing an exciting opportunity to travel internationally for the first time, as I prepare for a trip to Switzerland, which allows me to broaden my perspective both personally and professionally.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are hard work, making a meaningful impact, and striving for excellence in all that I do. Professionally, this has included recovering over a million dollars in denied Medicaid claims to support my organization, while personally, I prioritize creativity and self-expression, having self-published a book, The Delusions of Love, along with two short stories. Balancing these pursuits reflects my commitment to both community impact and personal growth.
