Zury’s journey into recruitment began unexpectedly about eight years ago while working as a field operations manager. This pivotal experience led her to a career in contingent workforce management, where she has built expertise in compliance, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven hiring strategies. Her prior experience in warehouse and distribution work also instilled a strong work ethic and practical leadership skills that continue to inform her professional approach.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Zury is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Penn Foster and plans to further her education with a master’s degree in Management or Supply Chain. She is actively involved in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, including Latino outreach and affinity groups. Passionate about connecting the right people to the right opportunities, Zury’s career blends results-driven strategy with compassion, mentorship, and a commitment to empowering others in the workforce.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

For me, perseverance has been the key to everything I've achieved. My biggest motivator is definitely being family-oriented - my four children are my biggest motivators to get up each day and persevere, to be a better person each and every day. They keep me straight and push me forward. As a mom juggling work and part-time studies, my family is what drives me to keep going no matter what challenges come my way. That combination of perseverance and the motivation I draw from my children is what has made all the difference in my success.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'd say don't settle for less, and don't let the no's put you down. There's always going to be that one yes, and that's all it takes. You're going to face rejection, but you can't let it discourage you. Keep pushing forward because that one yes can make all the difference.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in recruitment right now include a tight labor market, inflation-driven cost pressures, and competitive wage demands, while opportunities lie in leveraging data-driven workforce solutions and strategic talent placement. Zury advises young women entering the field: “Don’t settle for less, and don’t let the ‘no’s’ get you down—there will always be a ‘yes.’”
