What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the many seasons of my life that shaped me—ten years of writing, time as a stay-at-home mom, and working with special needs children. Those experiences taught me patience, perspective, and the value of connection, all of which flow into my writing, speaking, and advocacy work. Publishing my book Created to Relate: Living Beyond Religion in August 2024 was a milestone of faith, courage, and perseverance, and I’m proud of the resilience and creativity it took to make it happen.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be patient with the process.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to find your own unique voice—authenticity is far more powerful than imitation.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field are marketing my work, finding my niche within my genre, and building sales while being solely responsible for my product. Standing out among so many writers can feel overwhelming, but staying true to my own voice, as emphasized in the Proverbs 31 Compel writing program, keeps me grounded and focused.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in work and life are authenticity, meaningful connection, and using my experiences—like being deaf—to help others communicate and relate, all rooted in my faith.
