From genetic fear to empowered health: one woman's three-decade journey to reclaiming wellness.

From Fear to Empowerment: My Journey to Health, Healing, and Wellness Wave Now LLC

I was 26 years old when my understanding of health—and life—changed forever.

The doctor had just come out of surgery when he delivered the news that cracked my world open: my mother had breast cancer. It was 1985, and back then, the options were limited and rigid—chemotherapy, radiation, surgery. My mother, strong and deeply intuitive, chose a different path. She pursued an experimental, alternative treatment that gave her hope when conventional medicine offered little certainty.

She died two years later. She was 52.

Losing my mother so young left a wound that never fully closed, but it also ignited something powerful within me. Almost immediately, a new narrative followed me into every doctor’s office: “Breast cancer runs in your family. We’ll need to keep an eye on you.” The unspoken message was clear: this is probably your future.

But I refused to accept that my genes were my destiny.

Instead of waiting for disease to find me, I made a decision that would shape the rest of my life: I would take control of my health—not from fear, but from empowerment.

That commitment led me down a long and deeply personal path of learning, unlearning, and transformation. I began changing my diet. I examined my mindset. I studied the impact of stress, environment, emotions, and lifestyle on the body. Eventually, I immersed myself in holistic and naturopathic health, taking courses and becoming determined not only to help myself, but to support others who felt trapped by fear and family history.

What I discovered was both confronting and liberating.

Yes, genetics matter—but they are not the full story. Science now shows us that our environment, nutrition, thoughts, and daily habits influence which genes are expressed. This field, known as epigenetics, confirms something I felt intuitively for years: we have far more influence over our health than we’ve been taught to believe.

That realization changed everything.

Over the past three decades working in the healthcare space, I’ve moved across clinical care, wellness, and education—blending traditional experience with holistic principles. I’ve supported individuals navigating chronic illness, cancer risk, and burnout, not by promising quick fixes, but by teaching sustainable, root-cause approaches that honor the whole person.

That work ultimately became Wellness Wave Now LLC.

Wellness Wave Now was born from a simple but urgent mission: to help people reclaim their health before crisis forces their hand. I believe wellness should be proactive, not reactive. Accessible, not overwhelming. Empowering, not fear-based.

Through education, coaching, and practical lifestyle support, I guide individuals to understand their bodies, reduce preventable risk factors, and make changes that feel realistic and lasting. My focus is not perfection—it’s progress, awareness, and self-trust.

Today, my work resonates especially with women who have watched a loved one suffer, who carry genetic concerns, or who feel dismissed by a system that tells them to “wait and see.” I understand that fear intimately. I’ve lived it. And I also know what it feels like to move beyond it—to feel safe in your body again.

My mother’s story did not end the way we hoped. But her courage planted the seed for everything I do today. Through Wellness Wave Now, I honor her by helping others realize that their story is still being written.

Health is not something that happens to us; it is something we actively participate in. And when women are given knowledge, support, and permission to trust themselves, the ripple effect is powerful.

That is the wave I am proud to be part of—and the one I will continue to build.
