“True impact leadership is born from adversity, strengthened by resilience, and defined by the courage to turn pain into purpose.”

— Dr. Iris Wright

Injustice has shaped much of my life.

At just eighteen years old, I was facing more than twenty years in prison for a crime I did not commit. I lost my daughter, and it took nearly five years to bring her home. That loss shattered me. The pain hardened into anger, and I carried it for more than two decades. Somewhere along the way, I lost myself.

Healing was not optional—it was necessary.

I had to decide whether my pain would destroy me or define my purpose. I chose the latter. Writing became my lifeline. Through it, I transformed what once broke me into a source of strength, impact, and leadership.

Healing from injustice did not just set me free—it allowed me to rise.

Today, I serve as CEO of Wright Circle of Care (formerly Caring Hearts Telecare), Author Iris Wright & Publishing, Real Talk with Iris, Wrights Way Logistics, and Wrights Holdings. I also lead The Injustice Movement and publish the annual Injustice Anthology. I do not wait for seats at the table—I build them. I create stages so the voiceless can become powerful agents of change.

This is the journey that led me here—and the eight steps that can lead you back to yourself.

1. Learn to Love and Believe in Yourself Again

Healing begins with reconnection.

Each morning, stand in front of the mirror and speak life into yourself:

I am beautiful. I am powerful. I am strong. I can do anything I put my mind to.

At first, it may feel uncomfortable or forced. Keep going. Repetition turns intention into belief. You have spent years fighting for others. Now it is time to fight for yourself.

2. Rebuild Your Relationship with God

Pain and injustice can fracture faith.

You may have questioned God. You may have felt abandoned. But as healing unfolds, you may realize that spiritual grounding is essential. Begin praying again. Seek clarity, strength, and direction. Let faith become your anchor—not as blind acceptance, but as trust that your suffering is shaping you for purpose.

3. Accept Your Past and Give Yourself Permission to Heal

You cannot rewrite what happened—but you can redefine its power over you.

Accept your experiences not as stains on your identity, but as chapters that forged resilience. Stop reliving what you cannot change and allow yourself permission to heal. Acceptance is not surrender—it is liberation.

4. Forgive Those Who Hurt You

Forgiveness is not for them.

It is for you.

Anger and resentment bind you to the pain. Forgiving individuals—and even systems—that failed you releases emotional weight and creates space for peace. Forgiveness is not forgetting; it is choosing freedom over bitterness.

5. Find Your Voice Through Writing

Writing opens doors you did not know existed.

When the opportunity arises—whether it is a 500-word devotional, a journal entry, or a chapter in an anthology—say yes. Even if you have never written before. When your words are published, something shifts. You realize your voice carries weight. That moment marks the beginning of authorship, ownership, and confidence.

6. Share Your Story and Spark a Movement

One day, take the leap.

Share your story publicly—on social media, at an event, or in a safe space. You may not realize how much you have been carrying until you speak it aloud. The response will surprise you. Others will see themselves in your truth.

That is how movements begin.

What starts as your healing becomes collective liberation.

7. Break the Cycle and Help Others Heal

Healing never stops with you.

Your courage may inspire your mother, your child, or someone whose loved one has been incarcerated for decades. Your experience becomes advocacy. Your survival becomes strategy. You are no longer just enduring—you are changing systems.

8. Step Out of Survival Mode

Survival mode feels familiar—but it is not where you are meant to live.

Healing creates space to breathe, to think, to lead intentionally. You stop bracing for impact and start building the future. This is not just about letting go—it is about stepping fully into who you were created to be.

Conclusion

Healing is not a destination—it is a lifelong commitment. And it is not meant to be done alone.

Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who value growth, accountability, and purpose. Healing restores identity. It elevates leadership. It positions you to create global impact.

If you are ready to reclaim your power, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation or join our next Injustice Anthology and become part of a movement that turns pain into purpose and voices into vehicles for change.
