The Real Balancing Act: Leading at Work, Showing Up at Home

For a long time, I thought balance meant having everything perfectly aligned—career, family, time, and energy.

But life has a way of teaching you that balance isn’t about perfection. It’s about resilience. It’s about showing up, even when things feel messy, overwhelming, and far from ideal.

Today, I work in a global SaaS company, operating in a fast-paced, high-demand environment where priorities shift quickly and expectations are high. My days are filled with strategy, coordination, decision-making, and constant movement across time zones. It’s a role that requires focus, adaptability, and a deep sense of responsibility.

At the same time, I’m a mom to two boys whose lives revolve around sports—early mornings, late nights, practices, games, tournaments, and everything in between. Behind it all is a strong support system, including my husband, who stands alongside me through the chaos.

But this chapter of my life didn’t start here. I also raised my oldest son as a single mother—an experience that shaped my resilience, my work ethic, and my perspective on what it truly means to show up, no matter what.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I exist too.

There are days that start before sunrise with global calls and end under stadium lights, cheering from the sidelines. Days where I move from executive meetings to packing snacks, from solving business challenges to celebrating wins on the field.

It’s not always seamless. It’s not always easy. But it’s real.

My journey hasn’t been a straight line. I started my career in Mexico, learning the foundations of business in environments that required discipline, adaptability, and grit. After moving to the United States, I had to rebuild, learn a new system, and find my place—all while navigating life’s challenges along the way.

Those experiences shaped me. They taught me how to keep going, how to figure things out, and how to stand strong even when things felt uncertain.

And that resilience is what carries me today.

Because the truth is, there are moments when it feels like too much. Moments when work is demanding everything, and home needs you just as much. Moments when you question whether you’re doing enough, whether you’re present enough, and whether you’re getting it right.

But I’ve learned something important: you don’t have to do everything perfectly to do it meaningfully.

I’ve learned to focus on presence over perfection. When I’m at work, I show up fully—driving impact, creating structure, and supporting the people and teams that rely on me. When I’m with my boys, I’m there—watching, cheering, supporting, and being part of their journey.

I’ve also learned to give myself grace—to accept that some days will feel balanced and others won’t. And that’s okay.

What matters is the intention behind it all.

Technology has helped me navigate this life in ways I couldn’t have imagined before. From AI tools to smarter workflows, I’ve learned to work more efficiently so I can create space where it matters most. But even with all the tools in the world, what truly makes the difference is mindset.

It’s the decision to keep going. To keep learning. To keep growing.

Because this isn’t just about balancing a career and motherhood—it’s about building a life that reflects who you are, what you value, and what you’re willing to fight for.

For me, it’s about showing my boys what it looks like to work hard, to be committed, and to pursue something meaningful, while also being present, loving, and fully there for them.

It’s about proving to myself that I can hold both roles with strength and intention.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned through it all, it’s this:

You don’t have to have it all perfectly figured out.

You just have to keep showing up—

with resilience,

with purpose,

and with heart.

Because success isn’t just what you build at work—it’s the life you build around it.
