It’s Time for Spring Home Maintenance
March 11, 2026
Home maintenance is a year-round responsibility, and every homeowner should have a list of projects to tackle each season.
Staying on top of these tasks helps keep your home in good condition while also preserving its property value—and potentially increasing your equity.
So, what should you focus on as spring arrives? Here are six essential tasks to complete before the season is over.
Interior
Change your HVAC filters.
This is especially important as we move past the colder months, when more time is spent indoors and your furnace is used more frequently.
Spray for pests.
As temperatures rise, bugs and other pests begin to emerge. Treating your home early can help prevent infestations later.
Check your windows and doors.
Inspect all windows and doors for leaks or gaps where air could be entering or escaping. Install weather stripping or seal gaps with caulk to improve energy efficiency.
Exterior
Trim your trees.
Cut back any branches that have grown close to or over your home. Look for limbs that may be damaged or weakened from winter storms.
Clean out your gutters.
Winter can take a toll on gutters, often leaving them clogged with debris. Cleaning them ensures proper water flow during spring showers.
Check your sprinkler system.
If you winterized your sprinkler system, it’s time to reactivate it. Inspect for any damage to sprinkler heads or other components.
