Finding strength in ego: how self-worth survives life's lowest moments.
When my life is at its best and my career is at its peak, I carry an ego—an image to maintain. I have spent years collaborating with incredible people from all walks of life. Through those experiences, I have learned to hold onto what helps me grow and let go of what no longer serves me.
But the question becomes this: when my life is at its lowest, and there is no one around who truly understands, do I keep that same ego? Do I begin to underestimate myself? Do I settle for less? Do I apply at Burger King and wonder if that ego is gone? Maybe one day I will return to that great position, or maybe one day I will be rewarded again for a job well done.
The truth is, I have done all of these things—and I kept my ego.
I am a woman who influences women. I am resilient every day. I smile today, knowing I am no longer where I used to be. My past is behind me, and I am already successful.
