Able not disability
Redefining Disability: Seeing People, Not Limitations
- Ask questions.
- Include us.
- ask if we need help .don't just do it.
Have you ever looked at someone with a disability and wondered, Hmm, what kind of life can they have? Have you ever stepped in to help without first asking whether they actually needed it?
Too often, people look at a disability and only see the disability. But as someone who lives with a disability, I want you to know this: we do not want to feel helpless. We are capable of doing things in our own way. So before you do something for us, please ask if we need help.
Believe us—we are 100% capable, just like you. We may do things differently, but different does not mean less. So please, think before you act. Our lives can be challenging at times, but we are able.
Look at us as people, not as disabilities. See our strengths, our personalities, our dreams, and our abilities before you see our limitations.
People with disabilities can surprise even you. Don't underestimate us—this could be fun.
Much love,
