Awareness of Miracles
How Faith, Adoption, and Purpose Transform Grief into Miracles
Miracles, Faith, and the Power of Adoption
At times, it's essential to embrace the mindset of a child, allowing wonder and curiosity to guide us through the world around us. Rather than seeking answers to every question, allow your inner child to marvel at life's extraordinary moments.
The concept of miracles has captivated theologians, scientists, and philosophers for centuries. While some see miracles as divine manifestations and others as scientific coincidences, many attribute these transformative events to the power of prayer. From my perspective, prayer and faith are deeply intertwined, walking hand in hand on a profound journey.
At Adoption Solutions of Arizona, I witness miracles in their most breathtaking form every day: the birth of newborns. As an openly faith-based agency, we operate on the conviction that every life is a miracle.
Our mission is led by our Executive Director, Jackie Komar, whose own life was transformed by the miracle of adoption as the adoptive mother of six children. Her personal journey serves as the cornerstone of our compassionate approach.
Expectant birth mothers often come to us feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. We offer them support, resources, and a clear path forward while demonstrating the miracle of life as it unfolds.
As a designated Safe Haven provider, we also witness what we call "Safe Haven miracles"-moments when infants are safely and legally surrendered, providing a secure, compassionate, and judgment-free place for babies in crisis.
The atmosphere at Adoption Solutions of Arizona reflects that same sense of peace. Upon entering, visitors are welcomed into a serene environment adorned with joyful photographs of smiling babies. A courtyard filled with lush plants and majestic trees creates a peaceful oasis for reflection.
Within these walls, our staff has witnessed countless miracles that have strengthened our faith, and we have seen how that faith provides birth mothers with comfort, courage, and hope. Miracles, dedicated staff, hard work, faith, and prayer are the threads that connect birth mothers with loving adoptive families.
Director Jackie Komar prayerfully matches adoptive families with birth mothers through patience, discernment, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to our mission:
"We help babies find a soft place to lay their heads."
The depth of a miracle is felt the moment an adoptive family finally gathers their baby into their arms.
As that child grows, the miracle does not fade. Instead, it blossoms into new miracles every day, reflected in the laughter, growth, and love shared within the family.
It is a beautiful reminder that each of us holds a sacred responsibility to nurture a brighter, more loving future for one another and for the children of this world.
Together, through the grace of prayer, the compassion of Adoption Solutions of Arizona, and our unwavering support for one another, we can become part of someone else's miracle.
Transformation of Faith
He was fifteen.
Only fifteen.
The day my world broke apart.
A hit-and-run in 2003 tore the breath from my heart.
My youngest son, Michael, carried compassion stitched into his soul.
He never judged another person.
He saw every human being as worthy of love.
He lived with the heart of an adventurer, never needing a reason to explore.
He saw goodness where others saw flaws.
Michael carried kindness like sunlight-warm, steady, and true.
It was a gift he gave freely in everything he did.
The day he was taken from me, the sky turned gray.
Every second afterward felt like a lifetime.
The man who struck him disappeared.
No name.
No face.
No trace.
The questions haunted me.
Every quiet moment.
Every empty space.
The police searched for answers, but none could be found.
I wrestled with rage and heartbreak deep within my soul.
Yet I knew holding on to anger would only poison me.
So I placed it in God's hands-the only place where I could begin to find peace.
I prayed,
"Lord, I can't carry this. I can't chase someone I have never seen. I surrender my need for justice, my sorrow, and everything in between."
In that surrender, something inside me began to heal.
Michael's spirit remained with me-in whispers, in dreams, and in those quiet moments where grief slowly softened around the edges.
His love never left.
It simply found a different way to reach me.
Slowly...
Painfully...
I learned how to breathe again.
I rose from the wreckage and finally came to believe that my story was not over.
My purpose was not finished.
I could honor my son by helping others.
So I stepped back into the world with a renewed mission.
A mother rebuilt from the ruins of unimaginable loss.
I became a social worker-not by chance, but by calling.
I was called to walk beside people living in the shadows and help them find hope again.
I have held the hands of people trembling from addiction and abuse.
I have sat with broken women in the darkest nights of their lives.
Every person I help...
Every life I encourage...
Feels like a promise I continue to keep with Michael.
I have watched mothers hold babies they never imagined they would.
I have comforted women through tears as they found the strength to make loving decisions for their children.
We help babies find a soft place to lay their heads...
So mothers can one day read Goodnight Moon at bedtime.
Michael's kindness lives on through me.
It lives in the work I do.
In the way I see people.
In the compassion he taught me.
In the forgiveness he inspired.
I am no longer simply a mother who survived the worst day of her life.
I am a woman who rose through faith.
A woman forged by grief.
Strengthened by grace.
I am living proof that God can transform unimaginable pain into purpose.
Justice on this earth never came to my door.
But I trust God with the answers I may never receive.
Because peace is not found in everything we can explain.
Peace is found in the strength to let God move.
