Finding Fulfillment and Purpose in Retail Work

Yes! I work in a grocery store.

As with most jobs, I love my job most days and pray a lot on other days. In the end, I have a job where I am able to serve others daily. No, we can't make everyone happy, but we can make it our goal to do everything we can to make people happy and make them smile. I enjoy working with customers and helping them. I also enjoy paying my bills and making sure things are taken care of at home.

Working in a grocery store is not a low-level, starting-out position. You can have a great career! Many of us are willing to help those who would like to make it a career. Yes, working in retail is a lot of work, and you have to throw a little bit of patience into the mix. Working in retail is also a blessing. Not only are you helping others, but you also have the means to support your own family.

Don't listen to those who like to put down working in retail. I have never enjoyed a job more, although there have been times when I have hated it. Seriously, being able to help others is a passion of mine, and working in retail helps me do that daily. No, I am not a doctor, a lawyer, or one of those high-dollar fashion models, but I am me. I show respect, and I get respect in return. I don't think any job is absolutely perfect because, heck, it's work. I do love my job and those I work with! Make each day the best you can!
