Becoming HER: How Purpose, Pain, and Passion Built an Unstoppable Woman
From Survival to Unstoppable: How I Transformed Pain Into Purpose and Built a Movement to Empower Women
There comes a moment in every woman’s life when she realizes she can no longer continue living beneath her potential. For me, that moment didn’t happen overnight. It was built through struggle, sacrifice, heartbreak, healing, entrepreneurship, motherhood, leadership, and faith. I didn’t become successful because life was easy. I became unstoppable because life demanded that I rise.
Today, I am the owner of multiple healthcare and consulting businesses, an advocate for mental health awareness, an author, and the founder of The AnchorHER Glow Foundation—not just a nonprofit, but a movement created to empower women to rediscover themselves, heal loudly, and build lives rooted in confidence and purpose. But before any title, before any recognition, I was simply a woman trying to survive while carrying the weight of responsibility, expectations, and dreams bigger than my circumstances.
And that’s where my story truly begins.
Turning Pain Into Purpose
Like many women, I’ve experienced seasons where I questioned my worth, battled anxiety, poured endlessly into others, and silently carried emotional burdens while still showing up for everyone around me. I spent years nurturing others professionally and personally, often forgetting that I, too, deserved care, softness, and support.
Working in mental health and long-term care changed me deeply. I witnessed firsthand how important compassion, dignity, and human connection truly are. It also reminded me that many people are fighting battles we cannot see.
That realization pushed me to build businesses that do more than generate income. I wanted to create impact.
Through my Adult Family Homes and community-based mental health services, I’ve dedicated my career to helping vulnerable individuals feel safe, supported, and valued. Entrepreneurship, for me, has never just been about money. It’s about legacy. It’s about changing lives while creating opportunities for others.
Becoming HER
People often think becoming “HER” means becoming perfect, wealthy, or widely recognized.
It doesn’t.
Becoming HER means becoming aligned.
It means choosing yourself after years of self-doubt.
It means setting boundaries without guilt.
It means healing instead of hiding.
It means walking into rooms confidently, even when fear tries to convince you otherwise.
It means evolving into the woman you needed when you were younger.
I had to learn that strength and softness can coexist. That ambition doesn’t make a woman difficult. That vulnerability is not weakness. And that healing is not linear.
There were moments I wanted to quit. Moments where I felt overlooked. Moments where being a Black woman in business felt heavier than people realized.
But I kept going anyway.
Why?
Because I knew there were other women watching.
Women who needed proof that reinvention is possible.
Women who needed permission to dream bigger.
Women who needed to see someone rise without abandoning authenticity.
Building a Brand With Meaning
The AnchorHER Glow was born from a vision much deeper than branding or aesthetics. It was created as a safe and empowering space for women to glow from the inside out—mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially, and professionally.
Too often, women are taught to survive quietly instead of thriving boldly.
I want women to know they are allowed to:
- Start over
- Take up space
- Prioritize mental wellness
- Build wealth
- Travel the world
- Fall in love with themselves again
- Lead unapologetically
- Be both nurturing and powerful
My mission is to help women stop dimming their light for the comfort of others.
The Reality of Entrepreneurship
Social media often glamorizes entrepreneurship, but behind every successful woman is sacrifice nobody applauds.
There are long nights.
Difficult decisions.
Loneliness.
Financial risks.
Moments of uncertainty.
Moments where faith becomes your only strategy.
But there is also:
Freedom.
Purpose.
Impact.
Growth.
Legacy.
Entrepreneurship forced me to become disciplined, resilient, and intentional. It taught me that success is not just about what you build externally, but also about who you become internally during the process.
My Message to Women Everywhere
To the woman reading this who feels stuck, overlooked, exhausted, or uncertain:
You are not behind.
You are not too late.
You are not too much.
Everything you’ve survived is preparing you for the woman you are becoming.
Your story matters.
Your voice matters.
Your healing matters.
And one day, the very things you cried about will become part of the testimony that inspires someone else to keep going.
Never underestimate the power of a woman who decides to heal, evolve, and believe in herself again.
That woman becomes unstoppable.
That woman becomes HER.
