Becoming Whole: Faith, Healing, and the Journey That Shaped My Purpose
How healing, faith, and forgiveness shaped my confidence, purpose, and the way I show up in work and life.
For a long time, I struggled with believing I was enough. I carried the weight of past mistakes, wounds from relationships, and battles with my mental health that quietly shaped how I saw myself and my future. Healing did not happen overnight. It has been an ongoing journey of learning to forgive myself, release the pain caused by others, and rebuild my sense of self through faith. Today, I understand that the transformation happening within me is the true foundation of my success, my purpose, and the legacy I hope to build through Rockk & Mattie.
Healing Is a Lifelong Journey
One of the most important lessons I have learned is that healing is not a destination.
For a long time, I believed that if I worked hard enough on myself, I would eventually arrive at a place where the past no longer affected me. But healing does not work that way. It is not something we complete once and move on from. It is a process that continues throughout our lives.
There are moments when growth feels clear and empowering, and there are moments when old wounds resurface. At times, I questioned my confidence, my worth, and my ability to move forward. I struggled with self-love and battled mental health challenges that made it difficult to see my own potential.
But through faith, reflection, and perseverance, I have begun to understand that healing is not about erasing the past. It is about learning from it, growing through it, and allowing it to shape us into stronger and more compassionate people.
Healing requires honesty. It requires patience. And it requires grace.
Grace for ourselves and grace for others.
Learning to Forgive Myself and Others
Forgiveness has been one of the most difficult yet transformative parts of my journey.
For years, I carried guilt and regret about mistakes I had made in my life. I replayed certain moments in my mind and questioned whether I had permanently damaged my future.
At the same time, I carried pain from people who had hurt me along the way.
What I have come to realize is that holding onto those emotions only keeps us trapped in the past. Forgiveness does not mean pretending the pain never existed. It means choosing not to let that pain define who we are becoming.
Through my faith in Jesus Christ, I have learned that grace is not just something we extend to others—it is something we must also extend to ourselves.
Learning to forgive myself has allowed me to begin rebuilding my confidence and my sense of identity. It has helped me understand that our mistakes do not erase our purpose.
Faith in Spaces That Don’t Always Understand It
Another part of my journey has been learning to stand confidently in my faith, even in environments where expressing faith can sometimes be misunderstood or discouraged.
In many professional spaces, there is an unspoken expectation that faith should remain private or separate from work. Some people worry that openly discussing their beliefs might lead to judgment or discomfort from others. I have felt that tension before.
But over time, I realized that authenticity matters more than approval.
My faith is not just something I practice privately. It influences how I treat people, how I approach challenges, and how I define success. It guides my decisions, my values, and the way I show up in every area of my life.
Choosing to embrace my faith does not mean imposing it on others. It simply means refusing to hide a part of who I am.
Faith gives me strength during difficult seasons, perspective when I feel uncertain, and humility when success arrives. It reminds me that my purpose is bigger than my fears.
A Legacy of Faith That Continues to Guide Me
Much of my strength to stand in my faith comes from watching my grandmother, Mattie.
Mattie never separated her faith from the way she lived her life. Whether she was at home, in the workplace, or in her community, she stood firmly in her beliefs.
She encouraged people. She prayed openly. She treated others with kindness and dignity.
Her faith shaped the way she approached her work and her relationships. People respected her not just because of what she accomplished, but because of the integrity and authenticity with which she lived.
Her faith was not hidden.
It was lived.
That legacy continues to inspire me today and is the heart behind Rockk & Mattie.
The name itself reflects two powerful forces in my life. “Rockk” represents faith and spiritual strength. “Mattie” honors the woman whose unwavering belief and character continue to influence who I am becoming.
Through this brand, I hope to create reminders of identity, resilience, and faith for others who are walking their own journeys of healing and self-discovery.
How Healing Shapes My Work and Purpose
The work we do within ourselves inevitably shapes the work we do in the world.
As I have continued my journey of healing, self-reflection, and faith, it has changed the way I view success and purpose.
Success is no longer just about achievement. It is about alignment.
It is about showing up authentically in every space I enter, whether that is in my career, my relationships, or my personal growth.
Healing has helped me become more compassionate, more intentional, and more aware of the impact I want to have on others. It has reminded me that leadership and success are not just about results—they are about character.
And character is shaped in the quiet moments when we choose growth over fear and faith over doubt.
A Testimony Still Being Written
My journey is far from over.
Healing continues. Faith continues to guide me. And each day, I am learning a little more about what it means to live authentically and walk confidently in the person I am becoming.
There are still challenges ahead and new lessons to learn. But today, I move forward with something I did not always have: a deeper sense of peace, purpose, and self-worth.
If my story serves as a testimony of anything, it is this:
- You can struggle with confidence and still become strong.
- You can battle mental health challenges and still build a meaningful life.
- You can make mistakes and still grow into the person you were meant to become.
Healing is the work that shapes us, faith is the strength that carries us, and purpose is the life we build from both.
With love,
Veronica Henderson
