Donya faced severe childhood traumas. Her husband gained pleasure from odd and disturbing behavior. Her patriarchal religion ignored her requests for help. Donya turned what could have been seething anger and resentment into a force to be reckoned with. She gained tools along her liberated path, which initially helped her. Now, through experience and a heart filled with empathy, Donya has a treasure chest filled with medicinal weapons.

From way on high, where the air was thin, I stood cautiously at the edge of a rocky cliff. My lungs refused air as I reviewed a terrifying and critical crossroads in my life.
Miles and miles below me, I saw a battered, pregnant woman standing before a mirror in her bathroom. Unplugged, unraveling, a savage loneliness crushed her with brutal force. She stared wildly at the stranger looking back at her. She gagged out hysterical, gasping cries for help and dropped to her knees and onto the cool linoleum floor.
"I just want to be loved! Please, won't somebody love me? I only want to be loved!"
With breath still held, I cautiously moved closer to the rocky ledge on high and watched with urgent anticipation.
"Will she rise? Or will she stay chained in her shattered life?"
Roughly 15 minutes had passed, her pregnant body still lying and shivering on the floor. Tears clouded her vision and soaked her face. She lifted her head, wiped away her tears...and? She rose.
From the moment I made the decision to rise, the events that began transpiring in my life were nothing short of miraculous! Because, from that moment forward, I made proactive steps to release myself from bondage. Which also meant saving myself from being murdered by my strange husband and saving my two sons from a doomed future.
