Does Your Brand Sound Like Everyone Else's?
How to use AI without losing your brand's unique voice and customer trust.
AI can write a month of posts in an afternoon. That's the problem. When everyone asks the same tools similar questions, they get similar answers, and your brand starts to sound like your competitors'.
Customers notice. In a June 2026 Skyword survey of 1,000 U.S. consumers, 30% said they're less likely to buy from companies using AI-generated content. In a Bynder study, people often preferred an AI-written article until they were told AI wrote it. Then, over half said they felt less engaged.
The answer isn't to ban AI. It's to use it as an assistant, not a ghostwriter.
Try this test from marketer Rhiannon Thomas: Could three of your competitors have published this? If yes, it isn't finished. Make it yours by adding:
- A story only you can tell, such as a client win or a lesson from a mistake.
- A clear opinion, even one some people will disagree with.
- Your own numbers: results, prices, timelines.
- Your voice. Read it aloud. If you wouldn't say it, rewrite it.
Women entrepreneurs have an edge here. Our businesses are often built on relationships and lived experience, which no tool can copy.
This week, take one AI draft and add one true story. That's where your brand begins.
