Expect to Win
Expect to Win: Why Faith and Action Create Extraordinary Possibilities After Fifty
Hope Is Beautiful. Faith Is Transformational.
There's a subtle but profound difference between the two.
Hope quietly wishes things will work out.
Faith moves forward believing they can.
A couple of years ago, I was listening to a woman speak during one of my weekly calls when she shared a simple idea that completely shifted my thinking.
Whenever she truly desired something, she said, she expected it to happen.
Not because she believed life owed her anything, but because she trusted that if she did her part, life-or God, the Universe, Divine Timing, or whatever name resonates with you-would meet her halfway.
That perspective stayed with me.
Not long afterward, I found myself at an airport in Arizona hoping to switch from a later flight to an earlier one.
I arrived early enough to make it possible. As I walked toward the gate, I remembered her words. Instead of saying to myself,
"I hope they'll let me on,"
I quietly repeated,
"I expect to get on this flight."
When I reached the counter, I politely explained my situation. The gate agent checked the passenger list, reviewed my airline status, and smiled. Someone had just been upgraded to First Class, leaving one Business Class seat available.
That seat became mine.
Was it coincidence? Perhaps. Was it Divine Timing? Maybe.
What mattered most wasn't the seat. It was the realization that expectation had changed the way I showed up.
- I approached the situation with calm confidence instead of doubt.
- I asked.
- I believed it was possible.
- I was prepared when the opportunity appeared.
That's the part many people miss.
Faith is never an excuse to remain passive.
Faith still requires movement.
- You still have to make the phone call.
- Submit the application.
- Walk through the door.
- Start the business.
- Have the difficult conversation.
- Take the first step.
Expectation without action is simply wishful thinking.
Action without faith often becomes exhausting.
But together? They create momentum.
As I've continued building The Second Half Movement™
I've realized this lesson applies far beyond catching flights.
Many women over fifty quietly wonder whether their greatest opportunities have already passed. They question whether they're too old to start something meaningful. Whether anyone still values their experience. Whether it's too late.
I don't believe it is.
In fact, I believe quite the opposite.
- Your wisdom.
- Your resilience.
- Your relationships.
- The challenges you've overcome.
- The lessons you've learned.
These aren't things that diminish with age.
They compound.
That's your Experience Capital™.
And when you begin expecting that your life still has extraordinary chapters waiting to be written, something remarkable happens.
- You begin noticing possibilities instead of obstacles.
- You take courageous action.
- You stop waiting for permission.
- You begin creating momentum.
Will every opportunity unfold exactly as you imagined? Of course not.
But every step taken in faith builds confidence for the next one.
That's a victory all by itself.
Perhaps the greatest gift of expecting to win isn't that life always goes according to plan.
It's that you become the kind of person who keeps moving forward regardless of the outcome.
So today, I invite you to ask yourself one simple question:
What would I do differently if I truly expected things to work out?
I Encourage You To...
- Take that first step.
- Trust the timing.
- Believe in what's possible.
And remember...
Sometimes the biggest victory begins long before the result arrives.
It begins the moment you decide...
I EXPECT TO WIN.
