Finding Strength in Every Chapter: How Leadership, Resilience, and Continuous Growth Have Shaped My Career Journey
From Collections to Leadership: Building a Career Defined by Growth, Resilience, and Impact in Financial Recovery.
When I first stepped into the world of collections and financial recovery over a decade ago, I had no idea how much this industry would shape me—not just as a professional, but as a leader, mentor, and problem-solver. What began as a job quickly became a career defined by growth, resilience, and a passion for helping teams succeed.
Today, as a Recovery Supervisor at Arivo Acceptance, I oversee Repossession, Metal Recovery, Insurance, Dealer Refunds, and Bankruptcy functions. But the heart of my role goes far beyond processes and performance metrics—it's about people, communication, and continuous improvement.
Learning to Lead Through Every Challenge
No two days in recovery ever look the same. Challenges appear quickly, situations escalate, and decisions carry real impact. Over the years, I’ve learned that leadership in this field requires patience, clarity, and the ability to remain calm when others cannot. It also calls for empowering your team to do the same.
I’ve built my leadership style around accountability, collaboration, and coaching. Whether I’m developing workflows, analyzing performance trends, or supporting a team member through a difficult call, I’ve found that the best results come from people who feel supported, informed, and confident. When leaders create that kind of environment, teams don’t just perform—they thrive.
The Power of Communication and Connection
Before stepping into leadership, my earlier roles—from Collections Specialist at Xfinity to Collections Trainer at Knight Adjustment Bureau—taught me the foundation of effective communication. Negotiation, empathy, and clarity were essential then, and they remain essential now.
In recovery, communication can defuse tension, build trust, and transform outcomes. In leadership, it can transform careers.
Because of this, I place a strong emphasis on training and development. I’ve seen firsthand how knowledge and encouragement can elevate someone from uncertainty to excellence. Watching people grow into their strengths is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Growing With the Industry
Continuous learning is a core part of my professional philosophy. I stay engaged in the recovery and auto finance community by attending events such as Used Car Week and collaborating with peers and vendor partners. Every conversation brings a new perspective—and often a new opportunity for improvement.
This industry moves fast, and staying connected helps me stay ahead. It also reinforces how important relationship-building is in our field. Strong partnerships don’t just support business—they support people, innovation, and long-term success.
Why I Share My Story
If there’s one message I hope to offer others, it’s this: your voice matters, your growth matters, and your journey may inspire someone—often more than you realize.
Whether you’re new to the industry or advancing into leadership, every experience teaches you something valuable. I share my story in hopes of encouraging others to recognize their potential, embrace challenges, and stay committed to learning. The recovery field can be demanding, but it’s also a place where strong leaders can make a meaningful impact.
Looking Ahead
As I continue building and developing teams at Arivo Acceptance, my focus remains the same: leading with integrity, fostering collaboration, and finding ways to improve every day. I’m grateful for the opportunities this field has given me—and even more excited for the next chapter.
If my journey resonates with anyone reading this, I encourage you to share your own. Our industry grows stronger when we lift each other up and lend our voices to the conversation.
