A Tribute to a Beloved Mother and Friend: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Elaine Estwick
Friendship is the key. My mother nurtured me to be intelligent, thoughtful, and articulate.
My mother, Reverend Mother Teacher Elder Elaine Estwick, NA, MA, HHA, devoted companion, volunteer Champlain, and beloved wife of Rudolph Theophilus Estwick, Carpenter and General Manager at Barbados Bottle Inc.,---Mother Elaine passed away on January 14, 2026, she was a devout Christian.
She was a vessel of God who could never be replaced. She was my friend, confidante, and compass. She was an attentive listener and an enthusiastic participant in every aspect of her children's lives.
When you think about the friendship between Elaine and Rochell, think about the confidentiality, the Bible, learning and remember the word. My mother listened to countless stories over the years and truly fought the good fight. She helped shape me into a scholar, a philanthropist, a thoughtful writer, and a confident speller.
I remember being in the fifth grade when I won second place in the school spelling bee, finishing behind Vanirl Mitchell, the top speller at Central Elementary School in Orange, New Jersey (07050). My mother and father, parents, often took walks to West Orange, the neighboring town, where we enjoyed slices of pizza together. Those simple outings remain some of my most treasured childhood memories.
There are so many stories I could tell, but who was Elaine Estwick? She was the daughter of Evanston and Doraleen Archer, born on September 6, 1952, in Barbados, West Indies. She later became a proud United States Citizen. She was, and always will be, my best friend, my teacher, and one of God's greatest gifts in my life.
My mother is now with the Lord, and I dedicate this tribute to all those who fought the good fight but did not survive cancer. Cancer is a devastating disease. It consumes lives, creates profound loss, and leaves families with unimaginable pain. Only God can truly heal the wounds left behind.
Words cannot express how deeply I wish my mother were still here. Yet I find comfort knowing that God has given her eternal rest. She is now among the heavenly host.
Heaven and the angelic host has won an angel.
