Gracefully Shattered
Finding strength in brokenness: how shattered pieces become the foundation for grace and healing.
There was a time in my life when I thought being strong meant never breaking.
I believed strong women held it all together. We smiled when we were hurting. We carried the weight of families, careers, disappointments, and deferred dreams, all while pretending everything was fine. We became masters at hiding our tears behind our makeup and our pain behind our purpose.
But life has a way of humbling us.
Sometimes God allows us to experience seasons that leave us feeling shattered—not because He wants to destroy us, but because He wants to rebuild us.
I have learned that brokenness is not weakness.
Brokenness is where healing begins.
I have experienced heartbreak. I have questioned my worth. I have cried behind closed doors. I have battled disappointment and wondered if the dreams placed inside me would ever come to pass. I have carried responsibilities while silently praying for the strength to make it through another day. I asked for little and still received less.
Yet somehow, in the midst of the broken pieces, God continued to show up.
He reminded me that shattered things can still shine.
He taught me that scars are not signs of failure but evidence that healing has taken place.
He showed me that grace does not remove the pain, but it gives us the strength to endure it.
Today, I no longer apologize for the chapters that almost broke me.
I am no longer ashamed of the tears, the setbacks, the disappointments, or the seasons when I questioned everything.
Those moments became the foundation upon which God rebuilt my faith, my confidence, and my purpose.
Being gracefully shattered means understanding that life may break your heart, disappoint you, delay your dreams, and force you to begin again.
Because shattered things in the hands of God are never wasted. He used my brokenness—and ours, too—as part of His purpose.
He uses broken pieces to create powerful testimonies.
He turns tests into testimonies.
And perhaps the greatest beauty is found not in pretending we have never been broken, but in having the courage to say:
"I survived what was meant to destroy me."
"I healed."
"I grew."
"I forgave."
"I kept believing."
And by the grace of God, I became beautifully and gracefully shattered.
Because sometimes God does His greatest work through the pieces we thought were beyond repair.
With tears in my eyes, I will still say, "YES!"
