I wish I knew sooner
Finding wisdom in the journey: why the timing of your choices matters more than you think.
I used to say
By: Alicia Calhoun
“I wish I had done it sooner.”
Usually when talking about the leap from being an in-house broker to building my own team.
But today, I realized something.
I do not actually wish I had done it sooner.
Because if I had…
I may not be on this beautiful planet of discernment I now live on.
I may not have the friendships that hold meaning in my life today.
I may not understand the value of financial freedom the way I do now.
I may not have found my voice through writing, reflection, heartbreak, leadership, motherhood, and growth.
The truth is:
I earned the right to change my mind about my own story, even years later.
And maybe that is wisdom.
Everything happened exactly as it was supposed to.
One heartbeat.
One heartbreak.
One lesson.
One season at a time.
Maybe what I truly wish is that I had written my thoughts down sooner.
I am blessed with the gift of expression, but for so long, I kept so much of it inside.
Now I understand that writing was never just words for me.
It was clarity.
Healing.
Perspective.
Connection.
Maybe that is what I really wish I knew sooner.
