LET HER LIPSTICK 💄 DO ALL THE TALKING PART 2 ©️ 2026

PART 2: NEXT MORNING

As I was heading to bed and was about to plug in and charge my cell phone, I saw a notification from this particular handsome man, after all, here in California.

It was 9 p.m., and New York was three hours ahead, but why would he text me at this time of night—12 midnight in New York?

So, I decided to let it slide by and went to bed. Maybe the next day in the morning, I would respond to him. A voice inside my head said, "Elaine, just play it cool. Don't rush responding to him." But another part of me wanted to respond right away. After all, I liked him very much and thought, "Respond to him immediately, or else he will lose interest."

And that's another bigger problem about myself: I let myself become too predictable. When it came to being predictable, I immediately got tossed to the sideline and watched him have his way and flirt with others while, in my mind, I'm saying, "HELLO, I'M RIGHT HERE WAITING FOR YOUR MESSAGES OR EMOJIS OR, WORST OF ALL, YOUR CALLS."

Which never took place...

I was always the one, ever since high school, who was the first to write love notes or long letters or notes to a particular male in my life. Now it's text messages. How pathetic can I be? And these men I've been with ignore me completely.

For many years, I have said to myself, "I simply don't get it..." I'm loyal, faithful, I can cook, I clean—a typical future wife-to-be—which most men try to avoid and go for the bratty, foul-mouthed, high-maintenance, slutty-looking woman...and they become the one they refuse to let go.

The next morning, I woke up and went straight to my cell phone. Unfortunately, the same message. Nothing had changed, and it said, "Hi Elaine, can we chat?"

That's it...no "Good night," or "Message you tomorrow morning, beautiful," or something romantically sweet. I would settle for a minimum message rather than a proper romantic message that sometimes other high-maintenance ladies get rather than me.

And that's another problem, lol. I'm too ROMANTICALLY ROMANTIC. Maybe in the time of the princess and knight, I may have had a chance, but now, forget it—in my dreams only.

I have always been the one who would make the first move, not him, and, to be honestly truthful, I was getting tired of it. I realized that since he wouldn't put in the effort, I would rather just take a few steps back.

I came to realize that if a man won't appreciate your efforts and you settle for less, then it will be a cycle that will never end with every man you meet. And that is where one picks the wrong man to marry or to be in a 10-year relationship, hoping one day he will come to his senses and say, "Will you marry me?"

But no, that won't happen, even if we try hard to manifest it. Sometimes, we just need to say goodbye and move forward and simply don't look back.

Men are visual rather than logical. Men, simply for some mysterious reason, will sacrifice for the lady who is extremely demanding and high-maintenance rather than the lady who will honor or be faithful and work hard for the relationship.

Men are all alike—maybe, just maybe, 10% are truly different from the rest of the 90% typical male.

So, I decided to just play hard to get, hoping he would notice. I even went to the extreme of simply not messaging him for days, and it only backfired. He simply did not bother to message me at all.

I was like, seriously?
