Moving Forward
Embrace Your Past, Transform Your Future
Here Is How to Move Forward…
Some of us were not given an easy start in life. Abuse happened, negative words were spoken, families broke down, and the trauma lingered into adulthood. I haven't met anyone who hasn't experienced pain, hurt, or loss. Others have hurt us, and sometimes, we have hurt ourselves.
So, how do we move forward?
We begin by embracing who we are today. So many people hide behind a protective disguise, masking their pain with an "I'm superior" attitude or hiding their fears and failures behind, "You're the problem, not me." It is liberating when we look directly at our painful failures and tell them that they will not define us moving forward.
Next, accept where you are right now. This allows you to acknowledge that you've traveled a rocky road and perhaps made decisions that weren't the best. Moving forward means being honest with ourselves. Appreciate that you aren't perfect. No one is. But you have the strength you need to overcome your past and move fearlessly toward who you can become and the life you can achieve.
Like many of us, I had a difficult childhood. I was raised by a single mother, grew up with strict discipline and harsh criticism, and was made to feel that I was never enough. I struggled in school. I never felt valued. I didn't understand what being healthy looked like. I hadn't experienced a healthy relationship or known the unconditional love of a parent.
As a result, I made poor choices in my work, relationships, and finances. I had experienced only dysfunction, and I eventually realized that I was repeating it.
As I journeyed through life, I noticed that some people lived differently. They were happy and didn't seem to struggle—even when times were challenging. They were positive, loving, and optimistic people. These were attributes I was missing.
As I prayed for a better future, I began fearlessly questioning my thinking and my choices.
As I allowed wise people to speak into my life and help me begin to self-correct, I was able to recognize my limiting beliefs more clearly and begin my healing journey. This included replacing a great deal of old, negative, and fear-based thinking with healthier and more empowering beliefs.
I'm thankful every day that I chose to be fearless, and I'm grateful for those who helped me on this journey toward health, wholeness, and an authentic, fulfilling life.
I'd like to help you move forward, too—to face longstanding issues, remove negative attitudes, and replace them with a positive vision of who you can be and the life you can achieve.
Keep moving forward.
