My Accent, My Power
From Accent to Achievement: How I Learned to Embrace My Immigrant Voice
For years, I worried about my accent.
In meetings, people would ask where I was from.
In emails, I triple-checked every word.
And in Bethlehem, some people struggled to understand me — which made me feel uncomfortable, embarrassed, and sometimes even ashamed.
But with time, I realized something important:
My accent is not a weakness.
My accent is a story.
It carries every chapter of my journey —
from Kosovo to New York,
from housekeeper to executive,
from immigrant to leader.
Yes, sometimes my words aren’t perfect.
But my work speaks louder.
My leadership speaks louder.
My results speak louder.
So now, when people hear my accent, I smile. Because it means I’m not just telling them who I am —
I’m showing them how far I’ve come.
💡 Lesson: Never let your accent hold you back. It is proof that you were brave enough to start over, learn, adapt, and rise in a new world.
