One Little Step at a Time: Building a Mission Through Faith, Creativity, and Community
From scattered dreams to purposeful impact: How faith and small steps built Little Steps Press.
When people hear that I am a self-published author, artist, and behavioral health professional, they often assume I had a detailed plan from the beginning.
The truth is, I didn’t.
Like many women pursuing a dream, I spent years wondering how my different passions could fit together. I loved art. I loved working with children and families. I loved helping people grow and become more independent. For a long time, those interests felt like separate paths. Over time, I realized they were all leading me toward the same purpose. That realization became the foundation of Little Steps Press.
What started as an idea for a children’s book has grown into a larger mission centered on literacy, creativity, and community connection. Through books, art, and community partnerships, my goal is to create meaningful experiences that support people across the lifespan.
One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that impact is rarely built overnight. It is built through small, consistent actions: a conversation, a volunteer opportunity, a book reading, a partnership, or a willingness to say yes when an opportunity appears.
Many of the opportunities I am pursuing today were not part of my original plan. They came through relationships, faith, and a commitment to continue moving forward even when the next step was unclear.
As women, we often feel pressure to have every detail figured out before we begin. My experience has taught me something different. Sometimes we only need enough faith and courage to take the next step. For me, that step became Little Steps Press. Tomorrow, it may become something even larger. For now, I remain grateful for every opportunity to serve others through creativity, literacy, and community.
After all, meaningful change often begins with one little step at a time.
