Patience the proven underdog
From Uncertainty to Influence: How One Woman Chose Success and Transformed Her Community
Success wasn't just handed to me. It was the only path forward when I decided I wouldn't take no for an answer. From childhood, I knew I would find success no matter which ladder I climbed. You could say I had a bit of foresight because I was right!
As the Community Fundraiser Manager for Houston Public Media, I have overseen TV and radio campaigns that have generated hundreds of thousands of dollars, lowered premium expenses, and welcomed a wave of first-time supporters, boosting engagement across all platforms. I originally chose this role because I deeply align with the mission to inspire, educate, and inform Houstonians.
But as I look ahead, I realize I have a redefined purpose: to engage, empower, and elevate those around me. I want to be a living reminder that anything is possible and that no dream is ever too big.
Moving to Houston without knowing a single soul has afforded me so many opportunities, chief among them the chance to completely reinvent myself, embrace discomfort, and prove that I can thrive in any environment. Since arriving, I have worked alongside incredible people, mastered new skills, built a strong network, volunteered, and, of course, touched grass.
I am Patience Weaver. I am a Jackie of all trades, but for now, you can call me an influential woman who simply chose to be successful.
