Success is rarely a straight line.
For many, career advancement is measured by promotions, titles, and accomplishments. But for me, success has looked different. It has been built through adversity, sacrifice, humility, and an unwavering belief that God has a greater plan for my life.
Built Through Adversity
As a single mother, I have faced challenges that could have easily become excuses. I have experienced poverty, uncertainty, and moments when the path forward seemed impossible to find. There were seasons when simply making it through the day felt like a victory. Yet through every obstacle, I discovered something powerful: resilience isn't about never falling; it's about getting back up every time life knocks you down.
My faith became my foundation. When doors closed, God opened others. When I doubted myself, He reminded me of my purpose. When circumstances suggested I should quit, faith gave me the courage to keep moving.
Growth Often Requires Humility
Throughout my career, I've learned that growth often requires humility. There were times when I intentionally stepped back in title in order to move forward in knowledge. While others may have viewed those moments as setbacks, I saw them as investments. I understood that lasting success isn't built on a title; it's built on capability, character, and a willingness to learn.
The business-to-business sales world has taught me many lessons, but perhaps the greatest is that adaptability is essential. I've had to rebrand myself, learn new industries, develop new skills, and embrace discomfort in order to continue growing. Reinvention isn't easy, but it is often necessary for those who refuse to remain stagnant.
The Pullback
One quote has stayed with me throughout my journey:
"In order for an arrow to fly with precision and speed, it must first be pulled back."
There have been moments in my life and career when I felt that pullback. Times when progress seemed delayed, opportunities seemed distant, and I questioned whether I was moving in the right direction. Looking back, those weren't moments of failure; they were moments of preparation.
The pullback created the momentum.
Every challenge strengthened my resolve. Every setback sharpened my focus. Every season of uncertainty prepared me for the opportunities ahead.
