Still Learning, Still Growing, Still Becoming
I have always been someone who wants to understand how things work, why they do not work, and how they can be improved. That curiosity gradually became the foundation of my career in technology, data, and analytics. Over time, I have learned that growth does not come from having every answer; it comes from being willing to ask questions, learn continuously, and trust yourself enough to take the next step.
My journey has also taught me the importance of patience and a positive mindset. Life does not always move according to our plans, and not every phase is easy. Still, I believe every experience has something to teach us. One thought that has always stayed with me is, “At the end of the tunnel, there is light.” I try to carry that belief into every challenge, reminding myself that difficult moments can build strength, perspective, and confidence.
My mother has been one of my greatest inspirations. Watching her manage responsibilities with confidence, strength, and self-respect taught me to believe in myself and advocate for myself. That example helped shape the way I approach both life and leadership: stay grounded, keep learning, and do not be afraid to step forward, even when the path is unfamiliar.
Professionally, each role has added a new layer to my understanding. My early experiences with business systems and software quality assurance taught me the importance of accuracy, trust, and understanding business needs. Working as a single point of contact for my team gave me an early opportunity to take ownership, communicate across different perspectives, and understand that leadership is as much about listening as it is about making decisions.
In 2022, I moved to the United States to pursue my master's degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology. It was a major life change, but I chose to see it as an opportunity to grow. Graduate school strengthened my knowledge of data management, business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning. Outside the classroom, serving in student leadership and well-being initiatives helped me become more confident, more open to different perspectives, and more comfortable taking responsibility.
My work at Associated Electric Cooperative and later with the State of Missouri gave me the opportunity to turn that learning into practical impact. I worked on dashboards, automation, reporting, and data processes that helped teams access information more easily and reduce repetitive work. Those experiences taught me that meaningful technology does not need to be complicated. Sometimes, the best solution is simply the one that makes someone's work clearer, faster, or easier.
Today, as an Assistant Director and Data Analyst with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, I continue to grow at the intersection of data, technology, leadership, and public service. I try to remember that behind every dashboard and every number is a person, a program, or a decision that matters. That keeps me focused on building solutions that are trustworthy, understandable, and useful.
The biggest lesson I have learned is that self-confidence is not about knowing everything before you begin. It is about trusting that you can learn what you do not yet know. Resilience is not about avoiding difficult situations; it is about choosing to keep moving through them with purpose. And growth is not a single achievement; it is the result of small lessons, consistent effort, and the courage to keep becoming better.
I try to carry three principles with me: make the work useful, understand the purpose behind it, and never stop learning. I still ask myself simple questions: Can this work better? Can this help someone more? What can I learn from this experience?
Those questions continue to push me forward. I am still learning, still building my confidence, still growing as a leader, and still excited about what comes next.
For me, the journey is not about reaching one final destination. It is about continuing to learn, believe in myself, and build something meaningful along the way.
