The Grass Doesn’t Grow Under My Feet
How a Health Crisis Led to Discovering My True Calling Through Herbal Wellness
Sometimes the Hardest Pivot Leads You to Your Purpose
If you asked me what I'm most proud of, my answer would always be the same: being a mother.
Raising my children has been my greatest accomplishment. More than anything, I wanted them to see what perseverance looks like, not just hear me talk about it. I wanted them to watch me keep learning, keep growing, and keep believing that it's never too late to begin again.
That's why I went back to school in my forties.
That's why I wasn't afraid to start over professionally—numerous times.
That's why I eventually opened my own business.
I wanted my children to know that life doesn't always go according to plan, but that doesn't mean you stop living. Sometimes you pivot. Sometimes you reinvent yourself. Sometimes you discover a purpose you never expected.
I've never been someone who sits still. In fact, my former mother-in-law used to laugh and say, "The grass doesn't grow under your feet."
She was right. It's probably one of the things about me that drove her son crazy, too.
I was always working, solving problems, helping others, and looking for the next challenge. Productivity became part of my identity, and like so many women, I spent years making sure everyone else was taken care of before I ever stopped to ask myself what I needed.
Then My Health Forced Me to Slow Down
At first, I resisted it.
Slowing down felt like failure. I grieved the life I thought I was losing and questioned who I was if I couldn't do everything I'd always done.
But eventually, I realized I was asking the wrong question.
Instead of asking, "Why is this happening to me?" I began asking, "What is this trying to teach me?"
That question changed everything.
As I searched for ways to better support my own well-being, I quickly realized there wasn't one place where I could find the information I was looking for. I spent countless hours reading articles and books, listening to podcasts, watching educational videos, asking questions, and learning from people with experience in herbal wellness. I experimented, kept learning, and slowly began connecting the pieces for myself.
The more I learned, the more I realized something else.
If I felt overwhelmed trying to navigate all of this information, I certainly wasn't alone.
That Realization Became the Foundation of Goddess Goodies
My mission isn't simply to create handcrafted herbal tea and mushroom coffee blends. It's to make herbal wellness feel approachable. I want people to know they don't have to become experts overnight. They don't have to be perfect. They can begin with curiosity, one intentional choice, and one cup at a time.
I'm still learning every day, and I hope I always will. I don't believe anyone ever knows everything. What I do believe is that education, authenticity, and compassion matter. I believe in listening before speaking, building relationships before making sales, and helping people feel empowered instead of overwhelmed.
My health journey didn't just change my career.
It changed my perspective.
- It taught me that slowing down isn't the same as giving up.
- It taught me that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness.
- It taught me that purpose often grows from the places where we least expect to find it.
Today, when my children look at my life, I hope they don't simply see a business owner. I hope they see a woman who kept learning, kept adapting, and kept moving forward even when life became difficult. I hope they know it's never too late to change directions, pursue a dream, or write a new chapter.
If my story encourages even one person to believe that their best days don't have to be behind them, then every twist, every setback, and every pivot has been worthwhile.
Life will change.
Plans will change.
Sometimes even our bodies change.
But purpose has a remarkable way of finding us when we're willing to keep moving forward.
Sometimes the hardest pivot becomes the beginning of the life you were always meant to live.
