Everyone waits to hear their name, get the email or call, and wait for the congratulations: "You won!" But is that really the goal?

Being on both sides—waiting for a name that feels like it will never come and being that girl who won—I can tell you, winning was never the goal.

I mean, the goal was always to do my best. Not just to win, because after it's all done, you walk away with a win or not. The goal is to always remember who you are. Winning is never the goal.

Winning on lottery tickets is luck. But winning in life is the goal. My goal was always to be the best version of myself and to look in the mirror and say, "I'm proud of myself."

Am I still trying to mentor others after the crown is off my head? Am I still trying to raise my own bar?

Yes. One hundred times, yes!

Winning was never the goal. It happened, but winning was never the goal. It's what you do after you win, or what you do if you don't!

I truly believe the goal was just that: remember who you are.

Because that's pretty cool.

So, if winning never happens in one part of your life, remember why you do this. What is your goal? What is it that you want?
