What Does Women's Equity Mean to me!

Being judged by your capabilities, not your identity.

What Women’s Equity Means to Me

Women’s equity, to me, means being judged on my skills, my knowledge, and my experience—not my gender or the color of my skin.

I think about the women who came before me—the ones who were passed over for a promotion because someone “couldn’t picture” them in the role. The ones who had to work twice as hard to be seen as half as capable. The ones who were talked over in meetings, underpaid for the same work, or told to wait their turn for opportunities they had already earned. Those obstacles were real, and for some women, they are still obstacles today.

That is why equity matters so much to me. It means every woman gets the same opportunity to succeed and is evaluated for what she brings to the table—not by the assumptions people make about who she is. It means we stop allowing bias to decide what a woman can do before she has even had the opportunity to show what she is capable of.

When we see people for who they truly are, rather than who we assume they are, we give them an opportunity to rise. That is not just a win for women—it creates a better, stronger world for all of us.

So, on National Women’s Equity Day, I am honoring the women who pushed through doors that were not opened for them—and every woman who is still pushing today.

Let us keep making sure the women who come after us have it a little easier than we did.

Happy National Women’s Equity Day! Let us celebrate each other’s success!
