Two years ago, I suffered a near-fatal stroke. It left me bedridden and unable to meet my basic needs. When I woke up from a coma, I had to make a decision. I decided to fight. I knew how strong I was. I knew I could do hard things, and I still can.
That experience showed me that we're so much stronger than we think we are if we just dig deep within ourselves. Literally fighting for my life gave me the confidence to put my foot down and say, "I won't make myself smaller to make you feel more comfortable." I continue to live by that philosophy.
We can do hard things. Don't let the fear of outgrowing others stunt your own growth. You're not responsible for the feelings of others.
I am so proud of you for even reading this article. You're going to do amazing things, sis. Dig deep and find that tenacity you didn't know you had.
