You Hold It All Together. So Who Turns Your Engine Off?

Reclaim Your Executive Brain and Genuine Capacity by Resetting Your Nervous System

You Hold It All Together. So Who Turns Your Engine Off?

You are the one everyone counts on. The calm voice in the boardroom. The planner at home. The one who remembers the deadline, the birthday, the follow-up email, and the appointment nobody else put on the calendar.

And lately, you are also the one forgetting the word in the middle of your own sentence.

If that stopped you for a second, keep reading. Because what you are feeling is not you losing your edge. It is your brain and body asking for something most women leaders were never taught to give themselves.

We Were Taught to Push Through

So many of us learned early that strength means carrying it all and never letting anyone see the strain. We became excellent at running at full speed. We even started to believe that speed was our personality.

I believed that for years.

Here is the thing. I do not know many women who truly live in rest. "Rest" is a catchy word. We post it, we preach it, we put it on a coffee mug. But rest is not sitting on the couch while your brain rehearses tomorrow's meeting and the grocery list at the same time. Real rest is a RESET back to your original design: your mind, your body, and your entire being coming into agreement about a healthy pace. That pace is where genuine capacity lives.

The Engine Nobody Turned Off

If you live by the to-do list and find yourself forgetting things, losing words, pushing through brain fog, or stalling on decisions that used to come easily, your brain and body are sending you a message. You are not at rest. You are in automatic movement.

Even when you think you are resting, your mind and body are still MOVING, consciously or subconsciously. It is as if you left your car engine running all day and all night. 24/7. Even on the days you never drive the car, the engine is still RUNNING. And it is burning the fuel you need for the road ahead.

Why Your Executive Brain Checks Out First

Your executive functions are the CEO of your brain. They plan, prioritize, focus, remember, regulate emotions, shift between tasks, and make the call. Women leaders lean on these skills all day long, often for two or three roles at once.

But that CEO only gets a seat at the table when your nervous system says you are safe. When your body is stuck in survival mode, your brain sends its resources toward getting through the day, not leading it.

So, the forgotten word is your working memory running on empty. The decision you keep circling is a brain too overloaded to weigh options. The fog is attention with nothing left in the tank. This is chronic cognitive overload, and it does not care how talented, driven, or credentialed you are.

What Changed for Me

This has been a big part of my life to date. I did not know how to shift it. Over the years, things changed as I used Cognitive Release techniques, reset my nervous system, and intentionally recognized the generational thinking patterns that shaped my well-being.

I noticed it first in my sleep: 8 to 9 hours WITHOUT interruption. Then I noticed my pacing. I thought running at speed 8.0 was normal, when honestly, with a hip that is still healing, my body was asking for 3.5. My body had been telling me my pace was off for years. I finally started listening.

My days began and ended differently. Fewer hours, more efficiency, projects completed. My legs and body carried less stress, and my strength started coming back. My digestion was different. My breathing was different. My thinking was different. I had a peace I could not produce on my own, and I felt it in every system.

And the mundane things? The small habits and quiet reflections? Those are what keep me alive, persistent, and going.

Your Environment Is Telling on You

I love order. My car, my belongings, everything has a place. But here is what I learned: when your brain and body are disconnected, life gets haphazard, and your environment will tell you exactly what is going on inside you.

Now, when something does not get done, I simply add it to tomorrow's list in order of urgency. No sweat, no stress, no guilt, just recognition. That is prioritization, emotional regulation, and flexible thinking working together, and they only work together like that from a state of rest.

I began to understand that my brain and body were literally changing through cognitive unloading and nervous system resets used in tandem. My thinking is clear, peaceful, and full of LIFE and CREATIVITY. My brain and body have become best buddies, flagging me the moment I drift out of rest, and that is happening less and less.

I still joke that I operate at locomotive speed. The difference? Now that speed matches the pace that is actually needed instead of forcing it faster with disconnected systems.

For the Woman Reading This

If you lead, your best decisions come from clarity, not survival. If you are an executive, your strategic thinking returns when your brain stops spending its fuel idling. If you create, the idea you have been chasing shows up when your system finally feels safe enough to create.

You do not have to keep holding everything together with an engine that never shuts off.

No More Running on Empty

I want to see so many women say NO MORE to the known and unknown disconnections between brain and body and get their executive brain functions and body functions back to their genuine pacing.

That is the heart of my Cognitive Release Coaching. Together, we release the beliefs and thinking patterns that keep your brain in survival mode, then reset your nervous system so your executive functions can finally do what they were designed to do. Brain and body, working in tandem, because shifting one without the other leaves the engine running.

If that is you, let's connect. Comment RESET or send me a message, and let's talk about what genuine capacity could look like for you.

So tell me: when was the last time you turned your engine all the way off?
