Her clinical approach incorporates evidence-informed techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, client-centered counseling, solution-focused strategies, and other therapeutic modalities. She is passionate about helping individuals understand their emotions, develop resilience, prioritize self-care, and reach their full potential.

Reyes is also an executive contributor to Brainz Magazine and hosts the Mental Health Counselor podcast, using education, writing, and public outreach to promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma, particularly in Hispanic and Black communities. Through her clinical work, private practice, writing, podcasting, and upcoming book, Reyes continues to advocate for accessible, culturally responsive mental health care and empower individuals to prioritize their well-being.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Aide Roxanna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to living a purposeful life and being intentional in all that I do. After my husband’s passing, I became more reflective and gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of meaning, purpose, and making thoughtful choices. That perspective has guided me both personally and professionally, helping me remain focused, resilient, and intentional in pursuing the goals and opportunities that matter most.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received came from teachers who believed in me and prepared me for the realities of the real world. Their encouragement taught me that, ultimately, success begins with believing in yourself. I have carried that lesson throughout my career, reminding myself to trust my abilities, remain confident in my decisions, and continue moving forward even when faced with challenges.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to educate themselves as much as possible and remain committed to continuous learning. At the same time, it is essential to prioritize self-care, maintain balance, and make time for the things that replenish you. Taking care of yourself and keeping your own cup full will help you sustain your energy, confidence, and effectiveness throughout your career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities in my field is helping to normalize mental health care, particularly within Hispanic and Black communities, where mental health services can still carry significant stigma. I believe there is an important opportunity to increase awareness, encourage open conversations, and promote greater access to culturally responsive mental health support. By addressing misconceptions and reducing stigma, we can help more individuals and families feel comfortable seeking the care and resources they need.
