Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the guidance and support of two influential mentors who have deeply shaped my journey—Kathleen Ro, Director of Health Science at San Jose State University, and Professor Robert Rink. Their mentorship has been instrumental in my academic and personal growth, teaching me not only the technical and professional skills essential to my field but also instilling in me the core values of empathy and advocacy that continue to guide my work and relationships today.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering this industry to stay true to their goals and never let external doubts deter them. There will always be challenges and negative voices along the way, but it’s important to remain confident in your abilities and trust your own path. Believe in what you’re capable of achieving, stay focused on your vision, and let perseverance and self-belief guide you forward.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are perseverance, mentorship, and empowerment. As a first-generation American, I take pride in having balanced full-time college studies with a full-time job, maintaining honor-level grades while working tirelessly to fund my own education. This experience taught me the value of hard work and resilience. I am also deeply committed to mentorship, especially through programs that encourage female participation in STEM—particularly for students whose parents did not attend college. Guiding others to stay true to their goals, trust their capabilities, and rise above external doubts reflects the principles I strive to live by every day.
