Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alexandra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say doing sports my entire life has been the foundation of my success. My parents put me in sports at a young age, and that taught me how to balance activities, family, and school, while also maintaining friendships. With sports, you have to get good grades to play, so I learned early on how to manage my time and priorities. Beyond the practical skills, sports taught me life lessons about reliability - you have to show up, and it doesn't mean anything if you don't show up. I also attribute my success to my family, especially my older sister, who has been a huge influence on me. And honestly, I attribute it to myself too - I get stressed if I don't do something on time, so that internal drive keeps me moving forward. Being a first-generation college student also motivates me because I want to prove that I can accomplish so much, and that gives me confidence to take on any new task.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are accountability, compassion, and reliability. I believe in showing up and being dependable - it doesn't mean anything if you don't show up. Compassion is essential because treating people with kindness makes a real difference. And accountability means taking responsibility for my actions and commitments. These values guide how I approach everything, from my academic work to my relationships with family and friends. I also believe strongly in prioritizing time for yourself and having fun, because we're all paying a bunch of money to be here in college, so while academics come first, you have to set aside time for yourself too, because that's what makes it all worth it.
